Stakeholders

Stakeholders
There are a variety of people that work and live in the area. Many of them have expressed their discomfort at the lack of attention by local authorities. They are excited to know that a local university and an international team of experts have taken interest in the area.

Patronage of Historical Center
The patronage is made up of citizens who inhabit the downtown (UNESCO) area. They gather in order to promote order, maintenance and the upgrading of the historical area. The Director of trustees of this organization is made up people involved in politics and local businesses.

Typically they receive more funding and attention from NGO or government officials. However, they realized that helping other neighborhoods would help the whole area, therefore they have a special interest in the project. They also would like to see less pressure on the City Center.

IMPLAN
The Municipal Institute of Planning of Queretaro is a public agency with legal authority, which serves to guide the development with a comprehensive and sustainable vision.

The IMPLAN aims to develop the planning of the municipality of Queretaro, taking into account economic, environmental and social factors, by suggesting plans and programs aimed at creating a suitable environment for the harmonious development of its people, ensuring the public policy of long-term planning.

Community
The local community is made of different neighbors who work and live in the area. They have been contacted to participate in a community workshop. They have all sorts of backgrounds: from people who work in the market, to young entrepreneurs who work around the train station, to design firms that moved there because of the affordable rents, to private store owners. The residents of this neighborhood complained about the insecurity, lack of cultural venues, parks, sporting events and parking.

La Jabonera
La Jabonera is a design firm that moved its headquarters almost in front of the Train Station. They have witnessed the slow transformation of the area. Because of their design thinking skills they have worked closely with the community and the IMPLAN department interviewing people. They have mapped some of the most relevant issues expressed by the community.

Motivation and Expectations
Many of them want to participate; however do not have specific requests or expectations, just want to be heard and considered. Some of them have mentioned: “lets see what the government has to say or offer”.

Goals and Priorities
To present a set of proposals that will dignify the living and working conditions of the area.  In general people would like to see positive and feasible transformations that include sports, recreation, street security and the moving of more people into the area.
