Sites

Areas of Study
The site chosen in the central Northern part of Queretaro, where elop students will be working, is composed of approximately 23 hectares. It is an area that has grown gradually and somewhat informally. This area know as La Otra Banda has different public infrastructures such as pubic Market, a Cultural Center (Train Station), an urban Park and several abandoned properties. The area is mainly a low-income residential one and the same residents normally own the shops.

There are 4 possible sites that have been chosen for renovation because of their potential to positively change this area. Students are encouraged to study and reflect on each site, however, they should also consider the linkage between them. Each team must pay attention to the different proposals defined by other groups. These projects might unify different parts of the city or become an overall strategy.

Three out of four sites are very recognizable by the community. They have a strong presence in the area, but are not utilized efficiently. The Fourth site is made up different abandoned buildings scattered all over the area that have the potential to be transformed into public spaces, sporting areas, cultural venues or collective housing.
